Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Ensiglo, operated by DB Island Inc. ("Ensiglo", "we", "us"), Wyoming, USA. By using Ensiglo you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. What Ensiglo is — and what it is not

Ensiglo is a portable trust layer for media and documents. When you "seal" a file, a scannable mark and tamper-evidence travel with it so that anyone can check it.

Read this carefully — it defines exactly what a verification means. A successful verification indicates that the item came from the sender's seal and has not been altered since it was sealed. It does not prove that the content is true, accurate, lawful or authentic in any other sense; it is not a verification of anyone's legal identity; and it is not a deepfake or "is-this-fake" detector. The absence of a seal proves nothing. Ensiglo is a tool to help you check provenance — it is not legal proof and not professional advice.

Channel and identity features (such as a verified @handle or linked domain/social account) show that an account proved control of a channel at a point in time. They are not a legal-identity check and not an endorsement by any platform.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 13 (or older where your country requires) to use Ensiglo, and at least 18 to use private/sensitive sending. You're responsible for your account, for keeping your credentials and any sharing "secret" safe, and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly of any unauthorised use.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

use Ensiglo for anything unlawful, or to seal, send or distribute illegal content — including, with zero tolerance, child sexual abuse material;
impersonate others, infringe intellectual property or privacy rights, or mislead people about what a seal means;
harass, threaten or abuse others, or send unsolicited bulk content;
attempt to break, overload, probe or circumvent the service or its limits, or to reverse engineer, decompile or discover the proprietary methods behind it;
resell or misrepresent the service.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or that create legal or safety risk. For private/end-to-end sends we act as a neutral conduit and do not monitor content; we will act on valid reports and lawful requests (see our abuse contact below).

4. Your content

You keep all rights to the files you seal and send. You grant us only the limited licence needed to operate the service for you (to process a file in order to seal or verify it, to generate and store its fingerprint, and to deliver the features you use). You represent that you have the rights to the content you submit and that it doesn't violate these Terms or anyone's rights. You are solely responsible for your content and for who you send it to.

5. Private / end-to-end sending — honest limits

Private sends are encrypted on your device and we cannot read them. Because of that design, you accept that: controls such as "view once", view limits and expiry are best-effort deterrents, not guarantees; a recipient who is permitted to view a file may still capture it; once you have shared a file we cannot retrieve or un-share it; and the identity mark on a private file is a deterrent, not a guarantee against leaks. You use these features understanding these limits.

6. Plans, payments & renewals

Verifying is free. Everyday (Standard) sealing is free. Paid features include Pro (US$12/month or US$99/year) and pay-as-you-go credits.
Payments are processed by Stripe; by subscribing you also agree to Stripe's terms. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of the paid period.
Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and credits are non-refundable and have no cash value. We may change prices on reasonable notice; changes don't affect the period you've already paid for.
You're responsible for any taxes not collected by us or our processor.

7. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that a verification result is suitable for any particular legal, evidentiary or commercial purpose. You rely on the service at your own risk.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ensiglo and DB Island Inc. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill or reputation, arising from or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the service — including any reliance on a verification result or any leak, loss or misuse of content you sent. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ensiglo and DB Island Inc. from claims, damages and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

10. Intellectual property

Ensiglo, its marks, software, designs and the proprietary methods behind sealing and verification are owned by DB Island Inc. and are protected by law. These Terms grant you no rights in them beyond using the service as intended.

11. Copyright complaints

We respect intellectual property and respond to clear notices of claimed infringement under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent laws. If you believe content connected to a seal infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with: your contact details; identification of the work you say is infringed; identification of the material and enough detail for us to locate it (for example the seal identifier or verification URL); a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them; and your physical or electronic signature.

We may remove or disable access to the relevant seal record and, where appropriate, terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If you believe your content was removed in error, you may send a counter-notice with the equivalent information. For private end-to-end sends we cannot see content and can act only on the seal record and its metadata.

12. Termination

You may stop using Ensiglo and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or to protect the service or others. Provisions that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, governing law) survive termination.

13. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Wyoming for any dispute, except where your local consumer law gives you a non-waivable right to your own forum.

14. Changes & general

We may update these Terms; we'll change the "last updated" date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us.
